I have two important announcements today.
The first is that we will be starting up our ski club next Wednesday for grades 5-12. Ski club will be different this year. Due to Covid-19 and the winter sports season being condensed, bussing will not be available. Students will be responsible for their own transportation and supervision during the activity. There will be no way for the students to warm up in the lodge, because the lodge will only be open for bathrooms and food sales. Students will have to use their own vehicles to warm-up. We know this will limit participation, but still wanted to be able to offer the school discount for those students who can take advantage of it. For those interested, details and forms are available on our website under the "News" section. Money and forms for this upcoming week are due on Monday to Mrs. Thompson.
The second item is that food pickup for virtual students has been cancelled today and is rescheduled for Monday from 3:00-4:00 at the entrance of the high school gym. Meals will resume the regular schedule next Friday. So, today meal pick-up for virtual students is cancelled and there will be two pickups next week, Monday and Friday from 3:00-4:00.
Manton Consolidated Schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, February 5th due to weather and road conditions.
Today we were notified that a student in the high school tested positive for Covid - 19. All the people associated with this case have been notified and been put in quarantine. Again, we will keep you informed of any Covid cases that are here within our building.
As an FYI, we had a high school student test positive for covid. All people who need to quarantine have been informed. Thank you.
Bus number 20-15, the black bus, driven by Stanley Troxel will be running 1 hour and 10 minutes behind this evening.
Bus number 9-15, the yellow bus driven by Miss Jody is running about 1 hour and 10 minutes behind today.
Manton Consolidated Schools will be closed today, Tuesday, January 12, due to icy road conditions.
Just a reminder that meals for virtual students are today from 3:00-4:00 in front of the high school gym. The next pickup of meals for virtual students will be this Friday from 3:00-4:00 in the same location and then will be every Friday from 3:00-4:00 until further notice.
Tomorrow, Monday, December 28th, we will have 150 meal boxes containing breakfast and lunch for 7 days. Pickup will be from 3:00 to 4:00 in front of the high school gym. These 150 meals will be handed out on a first come first serve basis. Anyone 18 and under is eligible. We are limited to the 150 boxes.
I regret to inform you that due to a positive Covid-19 case in our district, all Manton students K-12 will be virtual on Monday and Tuesday next week. This is due to the number of quarantines required that would make it impossible to get all students to and from school next week. We were hoping to get through these last days prior to break without having to go remote, but unfortunately are unable to do so. These days are virtual for everyone K-12 and not considered days off. K-12 instruction will resume face to face on Monday, January 4th, when we return from our scheduled Christmas break.
We will be running Latchkey for the full day on Monday and Tuesday next week from 7:00AM – 6:00 PM. The next food pick up for virtual students will be January 4th. If you are a middle school parent you will receive another call tonight providing information regarding the virtual plan for Monday and Tuesday. Thank you for your continued support of Manton Consolidated Schools.
This is a reminder that our local health department is conducting a drive-thru flu clinic located in front of the high school gym. That flu clinic will be open until 3:00 PM. Also, today is meal pickup day for both our virtual and high school students. Meals will be available for pickup from 3:00PM-4:00PM in the same location as the flu clinic, in front of the high school gym.
The decision has been made to make next Monday and Tuesday virtual for high school only. In other words, next Monday and Tuesday school will look like it has over the last week. The current plan is that K-8 will be face to face until Christmas break and the high school will be virtual. Lots of thought has gone into this decision with the state having shut the high school down until a minimum of Sunday and not knowing what the state is planning to do with us after that, then having extra contact with students on the busses and additional student and the staff contacts in the high school for only 2 days, no other high school in our ISD being open next Monday and Tuesday for face-to-face learning, and having some consistency for all of our students. We feel this is in the best interest of all of the school community at this time. So again kindergarten through 8th grade will continue to meet face to face through next Tuesday and the high school will remain virtual, regardless of any decision the state issues over the next week.
This is just a reminder for those middle and high school students who are looking to switch from either virtual to face-to-face or from face-to-face to virtual, the window for doing so is currently open. In order for planning purposes those choices need to be made by next Friday to get students ready to start the new semester on January 4th. Please contact your building office at the latest by next Friday, December 18th, if you want to make a change for second semester. Thank you!
Please see the news section for the latest school closure/opening plan for our school district.
On Wednesday, December 16th from 8:00 to 4:00, the Wellness Center at Manton School will be hosting a drive-thru flu clinic to all individuals age 6 months and older. Please call Andrea at (231) 306-3010 to schedule your drive-up time. There are no out-of-pocket costs for anyone! Please bring your insurance card if you have one. All individuals who receive a flu shot will be given a $5 Subway card or $6 Little Caesar’s card! The clinic will run out of the high school gym lobby. You may pull up in front of the gym to get your flu shot.

All close contacts of these individuals have been notified. As we get additional Covid related information, we will keep you informed. Thank you!

This is an official notice of a possible Covid 19 exposure on Tuesday, November 10th at the Regional Volleyball game between Traverse City St. Francis and Beaverton. Attendees should monitor themselves for symptoms.
Today we were notified that we had a staff member test positive for Covid-19. Through contract tracing, this impacted 4 additional staff members who will have to quarantine. There were no quarantine contacts with students. Unfortunately with this development, we will be moving to remote learning starting tomorrow for K-8 students and will resume face-to-face learning on December 9th. Our teachers and students are ready for this challenge. We all know that face-to-face learning is what is best for students, but we feel this is the correct move at this time for both students and staff. Again, this remote learning will take place until December 9th. Thank you!
